Just doing my part

Guys. This exists:

I'm not positive, but I think this October chocolate festival originated in Scotland. Since my great grandparents immigrated from Scotland, and since I am 1/4 Scottish, I'm suddenly feeling quite justified in my decision to eat chocolate for breakfast every day last week. I'm just doing my part to connect with my roots and cultivate a sense of solidarity with my kin in the motherland.

Family is always a priority for me. Always.

And now an entire month of chocolate-eating lies before me. Hot chocolate. Chocolate custard. Chocolate mints. Chocolate peanut butter cups, with pecan butter instead of peanut butter since I'm allergic to peanuts. Chocolate ice cream. Plain ol' bars of dark chocolate.

As I mentioned yesterday, I can't eat dairy or refined sugar, so I shall get all sorts of chocolatey creative. A fine October task, I must say!

How will you do your part to celebrate ChOctober?

In other news, this whole chocolate-eating business is doing wonders for my ability to focus. I remembered to put deodorant on every day last week, which is nothing short of a jig-inducing victory. If you have ever lived in southern California in September, then you understand the importance of this task. If you have been in close proximity to me in the weeks prior to last week, then you are celebrating the completion of this task.

So you see, I have good reason to take ChOctober far beyond the confines of October.

I'm always doing what I can for the good of society. Always.

Happy chocolate eating, folks!

  1. Sarah, glad to see that you are back in force and enjoying the marrow of life and pursuing the admirable goal of chocolate consumption. If you were part German, you can complete the month of October with beer.

And thanks for sharing your joie de vivre with the world.

    1. And don't forget the brats! Brats, an occasional beer, and chocolate. October is a good month.
